Wire Wrapped Stone Cabochon Setting Tutorial {Video}

wire wrapped cabochon pendant tutorialI’ve always wanted to learn how to make a wire wrapped stone setting for a cabochon. I found an awesome video that shows you step by step exactly how to do it, so I finally gave it a try! I am just thrilled to bits at how my first attempt came out – I have been wanting to use this lovely turquoise cabochon for so long now.

Setting a cabochon in a wire-wrapped bezel is a somewhat involved process – the video is almost 30 minutes long – but I was surprised that it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I expected it would be. I encourage you to give it a try too!

    Hi Jessica,

    Very nice work! I also followed his tutorial but don’t really like the extra little swirlies he made. How did you finish yours without all the extra ends of wire that need to be finished off? Thanks for posting this!

    • Hi Jamie!

      Thanks so much! I didn’t like the swirlies either. I just made sure to give myself extra wire so I could form a complete loop for the bail (instead of banding it at the top like he did), and wrapped all those ends around the base of the loop. Hope that makes sense?

      So sorry I missed your comment earlier :(
