DIY Cross Earrings
I thought it would be fun to share how to make a pair of beaded DIY cross earrings just before Christmas, but of course you can also make and wear these earrings for Easter, or any time of year!
In the video below, I’ll show you how to make the beaded part of the cross using raw wire and beads and then assemble the pieces together and hold them in place with a decorative criss-cross of smaller gauge wire at the center.
This is a fun style that’s pretty quick to make – you can knock out a pair in 20-30 minutes. Why not make some for your friends too?

DIY Cross Earrings Supplies:
- round nose pliers
- chain nose pliers
- flush cutters
- nylon jaw chain nose pliers
- 8 inches of 22 gauge (.6 mm) German Style Wire (or other half-hard round jewelry wire)
- 16 inches of 26 gauge (.4 mm) German Style Wire (or other round jewelry wire*)
- 10 size 6/0 seed beads (I used these)
- 58 size 11/0 seed beads (I used these)
- 1 pair ready made ear wires
- ruler
NOTES:
*It’s ok to use craft wire (Artistic Wire or Zebra Wire), or other dead soft wire for the 26 gauge wire since it doesn’t have to be structural. Craft wire comes in tons of great colors that might be fun to play with!
You will definitely want to use half hard or medium temper wire for the beaded part of the cross, so it will hold its shape.
Feel free to play around with the colors if you want to get more Christmas-y, I’m more of a silver and blue gal than red and green.
If you’d like to scale the pattern up, you could make these into some pretty Christmas ornaments instead of earrings, wouldn’t that be fun?
