I absolutely love making jewelry with leather, whether it’s leather cord, hide, or scraps. Leather is often used for making bracelets and necklaces, but I’ve also been trying to incorporate more leather into earring designs lately.
Leather in earrings is not as common, but it can certainly yield some really interesting results and it has the added bonus of being able to use shorter scraps of leather that might otherwise end up in the trash. I hope you’ll give it a try!
In today’s video, I’m demonstrating how to make leather infinity links (or figure 8 links). At the end of the video, I’ll also share some of my ideas for ways to use these leather infinity links to make jewelry!
Aside from a great pair of earrings with dangling beads, what ideas can you come up with to use these links in your jewelry designs? Leave me a comment below and let me know!

TOOLS + SUPPLIES:
• 2 or 2.5 mm round leather
• GS Hypo Cement
• Flush cutters
• Chain nose pliers
NOTES:
As I mentioned in the video, for larger links I recommend using the larger leather. (3mm leather will also probably work, by the way, but I think 4mm is too big to be able to knot like this).
If you want to make earrings with your links and especially you use pre-made ear wires, you’ll just want to make sure the loops will be big enough to fit over the leather. Also, as a matter of preference, I think 20 or 21 gauge ear wires look better than 22 gauge. The smaller gauge ear wires just look too flimsy next to the thick leather.
